TALKING TREES TRIBE
MUSIC, WORKSHOPS & ART
The Talking Trees Tribe!
From a classic breakfast concert to dancing under the moon and stars.
to the sounds of the Talking Trees Orchestra.
Give nature a voice!
Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 August 2023 France
The first edition of Talking Trees Tribe was a great success! After this fantastic first three days, we can only organize it again. We cordially invite you to come and enjoy (again) this unique Talking Trees Tribe concept: experience and perform music and art together.
In the Talking Trees Tribe, music, workshops and all kinds of art forms come together on a French estate. There are dancers, performers, painters, DJs, documentary makers, coaches, designers and musicians. Spontaneity reigns. New collaborations arise organically.
Together we enjoy the delicious and beautiful vegetarian food of our Queen of Food; Chef Fia de Pree.
You will hear music you have never heard before, performed by artists and trees. Trees? Come and listen for yourself. You don't know what you hear, it's great!
Three days and nights under the French sun, moon and stars. Come and enjoy making and listening to unique music, participating in professional workshops, being together with friends and meeting new beautiful people. Nothing is mandatory. There is only one rule: respect for each other and for nature.
The Talking Trees Tribe is an experience you will never forget. Come and play!
Your contribution is intended for your stay, participation in workshops and concerts and for the tree we plant for you. All artists and workshop leaders participate on a voluntary basis. We don't have a profit motive, but we do this for the love of music, the beautiful togetherness and the co-creation. We care about the well-being of nature and want to give it a voice together.

How did people experience it last year?
Isabelle (deelnemer)
"I really enjoyed it intensely, it was one big gift, one big party, beautiful music, such fine people, connected with each other. It was the best of all of 2022 for me."

Musicians & Performers
Talking Trees is a collaboration between Art and Science, where musicians, scientists and artists work together to make the invisible vibrations of nature around us tangible. Talking Trees does this by converting these vibrations into music and images. The Talking Trees concerts are always unique because nature plays the leading role and the unpredictable is allowed in their performances. It is also called electro-impro. The music comes in all kinds of forms. Scores are printed and given to classical musicians, jazz musicians, new classic musicians and DJs.
In 1987 he teamed up with Michael Brook to record Sleeps with the Fishes, also released on 4AD. This album would become Nooten's most acclaimed work.
In 1989, Clan of Xymox (by then just "Xymox") signed with Polygram and released their third album, Twist of Shadows. In 1990, despite the band's success, he decided to leave Xymox due to growing internal musical differences. While Xymox clearly wanted to stick to their 1980s roots, he began to explore new musical directions. The new, young dance culture intrigued him and a position as an in-house producer at the famous One4Two studios in Amsterdam was quickly lurking.
In the first half of the nineties, Nooten produced countless dance 12 inch and ambient oriented music for labels and projects (Hypercycle/First Contact/Ultimate Dream Mix), some of which reached the national charts.
In 2010, Pieter signed with Rocket Girl in the UK and released the 12-track CD called Here Is Why, which showcased his skill as a producer for other artists. Surround Us was produced entirely with a MacBook Pro and a Midi keyboard; no other instruments were used, except for Lucas Stam's improvised cello, which adds texture to the songs on which he appears.
In 2013, Pieter again released the double CD Haven on Rocket Girl. He also performed at the 2014 World Press Photos Awards and wrote an acclaimed Bach transcription for the New York-based Red Hot organization. Tired of the limitations of writing and releasing only music, Nooten founded La Compania Parpadeo in 2014 with dancer and choreographer Miryam Chachmany, crossing the boundaries between traditional flamenco music, electronic and neoclassical music, poetry, visual arts and dance. Also in 2014, Nooten teamed up with longtime friend Bert Barten and Real World producer/engineer/composer Stephen W Tayler to collaborate on an avant-garde music project.
In August 2017, Nooten announced a music campaign to fund his next album, which was finally released in November 2018 under the name 'Stem'.
Pieter is one of the members of the Talking Trees Orchestra.
listen to Pieter's music with a completely different ear. This is not pop music. It may not have the instant appeal that pop music has and may even seem quite introverted or even inaccessible. But I promise there is a lot to gain. For me it means drifting into unknown realms of consciousness and it's all about compassion, humanity and an unconditional love for life. Pieter: It's about aesthetics and morality I think.

Tulip | Dusha are two audio projects created by Anna Martinova. Tulpa audio stories are night dance oriented psychedelic techno improvisations. Dusha is music composed and sung by the girl.
Both projects are played live with a modular synthesis system and additional instruments. Tulpa DJ sets in dark psychedelic and dark progressive trance are played all over the world and now at Talking Trees Festival.
Gerwin Eisenhauer (Germany) plays his drums with emphatically great dynamics, finely woven and sensitively placed sounds such as textures, a rousing flow and interwoven, pleasantly celebrated rhythmic ideas between rusted beat and very free improvisation. Despite this diversity, everything always has an extremely musical feel. These two will make you dance.
After Mizpa, Julie exchanged Arnhem for The Hague. She founded the eclectic rock band can-of-be and wrote music for theater performances with Roeland Drost. She traveled for a year as the singer of DASH!, the jazz ensemble of Maarten Ornstein. She has composed songs with British trance legend Solarstone for his last 2 albums and has collaborated with the renowned Residentie Orkest.
Known for her theatrical, powerful voice, Julie Scott is regularly compared to artists such as Jeff Buckley and PJ Harvey. She whispers, conjures and enchants, sometimes only accompanied by guitar, then again with cello and Hammond, screeching samples and melancholy choirs. Her music is cinematic and moving, her lyrics candid. Some call it "fairy tales with balls".
Last year Julie wrote a new album together with Peter Slager (BLØF) under the name “Spellbound”. They worked remotely with a small group of friends because of corona. In the end, 17 songs were created that are all about hope, togetherness and a strong campfire vibe.
The album Spellbound will be released this year, 2022.

A dance drawing is an effective means of recognizing who you are, what you stand for, what your unique qualities are and how special you are.
This applies to you as a person and entrepreneur.
Drawing is a process in which you let go of overthinking, immerse yourself in the moment and learn to trust the process based on your intuition. As soon as you surrender, everything goes through your mind and body in the here and now. You are not concerned with the future or the past.
The reading that follows your drawing gives you insight into where your blockages come from and which talents and qualities you can set in motion to break through them. Every person and every entrepreneur is unique and has their own story. You too!
Anna Berendsen (1993) longs and strives for a better world.
One in which plants, animals and people work together and can coexist.
This desire stems from a world that exists in her imagination. This world, which she carries with her since childhood, consists of both fictional and real elements.
People, plants, animals, but also fantasy creatures as we know them from Tolkien's work.
The compositions that Anna creates are often inspired by creatures or landscapes from these books and other fantasy novels.
Through her artwork she tries to make this imaginary world exist in the real world.
In addition to form, the choice and research into materials is a determining factor in her work.
She hopes that one day her artworks can be made from 100% biodegradable materials. That way her artworks can really come to life and interact with nature as they do in her imaginary world. Everything that lives in this world can be completely biodegraded and returned to nature. While the real world (our earth), in which her work is created, is not yet so perfect.
Transience and transformation in her Art is essential. She states that her work manifests itself in this world through its transience. Materials can decay and change into something completely different, but they never really disappear.
The Work of Art must live from growth and decay and thus, as it changes shape and form, become part of nature.

When you start boxing individually, your patterns emerge and your behavior becomes visible.
The beautiful and less beautiful sides of yourself become visible. Sometimes that is confrontational.
You often know what your patterns are. When you start boxing, those patterns become even clearer and you also physically feel what is happening to you.
The body sends out all kinds of signals. If you are more aware of this, you can better control your behavior.
We talk little, do a lot. Behavior or beliefs that bother you are addressed immediately at the start. You first become fully aware of your behavior. What's the reward? You become aware of your own primary behavior and receive insights and tips on how to change this. I look forward to meeting you, John.

A documentary (2022) by Agnes
de Ruijter.
And if it's up to Agnes, the image we have of trees as street furniture to which you secure your bicycle or for men in need. They are so much more. Agnes: “I used to think: trees never feel rejected, they have no comments, they do exactly what they have to do and are just who they are – if only I were a tree.”
Talking Trees Festival shows Agnes' documentary in the open air.
Lovely under the stars with this recently released, beautiful documentary "Boom in Amsterdam" /“Tree in Amsterdam”
Ton Mertens is a painter who stands with both feet in contemporary times. Seemingly effortlessly, he makes the transition from the Middle Ages to the present. The world of quacks, sorcery and medicine men exerts a special attraction on his works. The fascination for alchemy, mysticism, forms the basis for a cycle of portraits of fictional characters who surrender unconditionally to superstitions, rituals, theatrical acts and curious medical procedures.
Everything revolves around the multiplicity of the image. Behind that which clearly manifests itself, lies a manipulated reality. This paradoxical visual language places the portrayed persons in a new dimension.
So…. Before and during the festival I make different circles. I would like to invite you all to complete those circles with your own input. I would like to see them grow. I would also like to invite you to my workshop to tell you stories and teach you some of my secrets on how to make your own beautiful circles. If you want, I can also give you a lecture about your creation. My workshop is open to everyone from 5 years old.
Peace throughout the world begins with inner peace.
About Annemieke:
Born in the Netherlands next to The Wetlands of Saefthinghe, he has become a child of nature: a happy little shaman and a child who did not fit into the ordinary way of life. Not the best student in school, I taught myself by trying out all kinds of special gifts and found out that I wasn't as stupid as teachers told me.
I learned a lot about who I was by wondering why people do what they do and are who they are. I learned about communication, creativity and connection… For me this is All-In-One: Creation is a different kind of communication. Communication is a way to connect. Connection between people is shown in many creative ways.
I am always happy to find new ways to express my inner wisdom during all kinds of creative artistic workshops.
At the moment I offer readings with flowers, crystals, soul paintings and my very own Activate Your Inner Wisdom Card. I also coach people to the best and beautiful new version of themselves by taking plenty of time for them in an unusual setting.
